The reading passage provides brief information on the phenomenon of the broccoli growth. Broccoli can grow on the relatively cool areas like in the west coast. For other regions it would be more expensive. According to the reading passage this situation could change in the future, when the scientists would create a new type of broccoli which would create a new benefits.
The first point is that the ability to raise crops in the east coast would effect the cost of its, because there would be no need In the long transportation process. However the lecturer disagrees mentioning that the crops would have lower yields which means that there would be less of the harvest which means that the farmers would have to add the value.
Secondly, studies have shown that people do not prefer to eat the crops which were created in a genetic way, which broccoli is not. That would attract people who are skeptical about genetic created crops. But the professor claims that because the crops were created by the companies which used to make genetic crops costumers would still be worried before obtaining the product.
Lastly it is much healthier to eat b the vegetables right after the harvest. Because of the long time till the vegetables would be delivered to the store it would lose it’s nutrition. The lecturer mentions that many crops grow right in the east cost and still is rich of nutrition.
