The line graph illustrates the number of commodities transported in the UK from 1974 to 2002 through four types of transportation. Overall, there had been a significant growth in the quantities of transported goods over the past 3 decades.
In 1974, the quantities of goods transported by road were approximately 70 million tones, which was tenfold more than those transported through the pipeline, while both water and rail transportation way only carried almost 40 million tons of wares. Between 1975 and 2001, all numbers of goods transported by four modes increased by roughly 20 million tones except the wares carried by rail which was still fluctuating between 30 and 40 million tones.
Finally, in 2002, the number of commodities carried by all four transportation types reached their peaks. The goods transported by road and water were about 100 and 65 million tons respectively. Meanwhile, the commodities carried by pipeline were roughly 22 million tones, and interestingly, the number of goods transported by rail was 41 million tones which were almost the same as in 1974.

Provided line graph…
Provided line graph illustrates how the four transport methods have been carried the goods in the UK during the year 1974 to 2002. Overall, it can be seen that, while four modes experienced an upward trend, the road transportation was remained most popular over the time period.
On the one hand, the road transportation, which was most popular, moved nearly 70 m tonnes of goods in 1974. Thereafter, products that carried through road, experienced some fluctuations from 1978 to 1998 though it reached a high of 98 tonnes in 1998 and remained constant at the end.
Moreover, pipeline, which was least popular method of goods transport, witnessed a very small amount of 5m goods in 1994. Interestingly though, this figure reached a more than 20 m tonnes after 1994 and remained stable for next eight years.
With regard to rail and water, the amount of tons began fairly similar at 40 m tonnes in 1974, whereas after 1978, while the level of goods, which was moved through rail, increased steadily, transportation for rail plunged to 25m. However, in 2002 water and rail transferred respectively 65m and 41m of products.
