team work
The article states that in many organizations its best to approach is to assemble a group and provides some reasons for support. However, the professor states an example of group work in a company and its problems.
First, reading states that having a team of people provides a wider and more knowledgable view for the group than distinct individuals, but the professor refutes this point. He says that almost in every group there are some individuals who get free rides and do not do much, but because its a group they do not get recognized.
The reading states can take more risk than a single person because in groups individuals don't have to take the full responsibility for the action, the professor says this makes the time every desition take, much longer than it needs to because people have to convince on another.
The reading states that people who "shine" have a better time in a group because they can get recognized for their significance in a group and get proper recognition for their job in the group. However, the professor states that people who do most of the work and their insight is the basis of the project do not get recognized for their work individually and only the success of the team is visible from outside. If you ask them about this they probably do not appreciate it.
There are also some other problems with the group such as some times some people get highly influential and others will follow them and accept their desitions without proper reason. for example, they present an idea state that their idea is highly creative, so others will accept that and if there would be some opponent, it won't be heard. however, after it failed it would be everybody's fault.
