GIVING BASIC KNOWLEDGE ABOUT PREPARING EXAM
Hi, I’m Sangeeth studying from China Medical University 2015 batch.
I passed the Foreign medical graduation exam (FMGE) in my first attempt and scored 191/300. my preparation time was around 107 days.
KEY POINTS ( Based on my personal experience )
- DON’T RELY on Too many sources for your NOTES
- DON’T LEAVE ANY SUBJECT - Learn the CONCEPTS and get an IDEA of HIGH YIELD topics at least.
(DMA MADE LIST OF HIGH YIELD TOPICS IT HELPED ME A LOT IN PREPARATION https://dmaedu.com/fmge-high-yield-subjects-and-chapters/)
- DON’T ATTEMPT complete mocks so early or so late - Start giving complete mocks before 10 days of your EXAM and attempt at least 5 complete mocks just like the exam scenario.
- DON’T underestimate ONE LINER - although it is not asked directly in the exam, it helps to have a quick revision of all the subjects.
- ONE REVISION IS NEVER ENOUGH (At least 2 revision must, but if you have enough time to revise 3 times, you are good to go)
- FINAL REVISION keeps these subjects in the last row ( ANAT, BIOCHEM, PSM, MICRO, PHARMA, FSM) few days before your exam, these subjects are hard to retain so make them sit in your short term memory.
- As Sakshi Arora mam said in one of her videos,
You don’t need to be Master of a Subject, Be an Ace of all subjects

BEFORE APPEARING TO EXAM
I COMPLETED 9 subjects (CTC) MIST notes and important topics of 4 subjects
MIST ONE LINERS +FMGE SOLUTIONS FOR ALL SUBJECTS AND 8 COMPLETE MOCKS.
I would like to share the strategy & timeline of my preparation, I believe it would help some for planning their preparation.
I joined the MIST vacation batch in January and attended a few subjects. But I was not serious about my preparation, then corona made us all stay at home and I decided to appear in December Fmge 2020 and took a long break from studies.
But my friends suggested giving an attempt for JUNE FMGE 2020 and then I started my actual preparation on 16 May 2020.
As I started my preparation very late, my idea was to cover at least 13 subjects(MIST NOTES).
I Planned a maximum of 7 days for big subjects,
1) 4 days to study the notes once
2) 1 day to revise the notes
3) 2 days to do FMGE solutions with explanations.
As I mentioned earlier, I can only finish 9 subject’s Mist notes (cover to cover) and important topics from PSM, PHARMA, MICRO, OPTHA.
Revision is the key for this Exam,
I managed to finish my second revision on 2nd august and had 29 days for my final revision.
On my final revision, I spent most of my time concentrating on One-liners and Complete mock tests. But the bitter truth is whatever we prepared, Fmge June 2020 is one of the hardest papers, and 95% questions are clinical.
I and most felt it is impossible to pass this attempt. I left the exam center with the mindset to prepare for my next attempt.
Questions where too large and it felt so hard to manage time.
I felt it is practically impossible to read and understand every word of the question, so I followed the skimming technique (Quickly reading the question and just picked a few important points)
so I had at least 35 minutes in both parts 1&2 of the exam and it was more than enough to recheck all my answers and to make corrections.
