The table below shows the proportion of different categories of families living in poverty in Australia in 1999
The given table details the statistical report highlighting the proportional rate of the people from 6 different groups who were residing under poverty in Australia in the year 1999.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the majority of the people under the impoverished conditions were the sole parent, followed next by the single parent with no children. In contrast, aged people constituted the least proportion for the same.
According to the given illustration, of the total 1,837,000 households under poverty(11% of the total population), the sole parents accounted for the highest percentage(21%). Also, about 19% (359 000) were reported as a single parent with no children, whereas nearly 7% fewer of that was a couple with children.
Furthermore, whilst 1 57 000 more couples with no children fell under the poverty rate as against only 57000 single aged people, merely 48 000 came out to be as aged people who fell at the lowest rank in the chart.
