dinosaurs
The author in the reading believes that dinosaurs were endotherm and as a result, they can maintain their body temperature constantly. The lecturer, however, finds this statement dubious and casts doubt on it by asserting that these reasons can't prove for these animals to be endotherms.
First of all, the author believes that dinosaurs used to live in polar cold atmospheres according to the fossils which were explored there. The lecturer rebuts this by saying that polar areas used to have warmer temperatures than today and whenever the weather converted to cold climate dinosaurs started immigrating to warm areas or they tried to hibernate.
Secondly, the author suggests that though to the legs of dinosaurs that were positioned underneath of their body they are counted as endotherms. He asserts that this position leads to running and quicker moves ability for them. The lecturer challenges this by arguing that the position of their legs doesn’t relate to the movement but was positioned to let them grow higher.
Finally, the author contends that their bones structure entailed Haversian canals that had nerves and blood vessels that rendered to quicker growth, and these canals included in dinosaurs fossils which indicated they are endotherms. In contrast, the lecturer holds the view that dinosaurs had growth rings in their fossils which let their bones become thickened and consolidated. Besides, these rings used to work whenever dinosaurs ceased growing or had slow growth of body structure in cold environments.
