The table below shows the amount of waste production (in millions
of tonnes) in six different countries over a twenty-year period.
The given table details the statistical report showing how much waste(in millions of tonnes) is produced by six different countries over a period of 20 years from 1980 to 2000.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that over the period as a whole, the United States was by far the biggest contributor in waste, followed next by Japan. Besides this, Ireland and Portugal witnessed a lower amount of waste.
According to the given illustration, to begin with, the United States contributed the highest amount of waste(131 million tonnes), compared to one-fifth by Japan and merely 0.6, 4, 2 million tonnes by Ireland, Poland, and Portugal respectively. By contrast, Korea reported zero waste disposal in the same year.
Over a decade, whilst the United States observed a dramatic rise of about 20 million tonnes as against 4 million tonnes in Japan, just a million tonnes of increment was noticed in Poland, and Portugal, whereas Ireland reduced its emission to zero. However, Korea reported 31 million tonnes of waste in the same year. Further, In 2000, the United States climbed to a peak of 192 million tonnes of waste, while Japan moved up by another 20 million tonnes. On the other hand, although Ireland, Poland, and Japan recorded a slight uptick, reaching 5, 6.6, and 5 million tonnes, Korea dropped its waste below 20 million tonnes by the period end.
