The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.
The given graph below illustrates the process or technique used for the production of electricity using geothermal energy.
Overall, the process consists of 5 stages starting from injecting cold water under the earth surface and ending at the generation of electricity.
From the diagram, the process begins by channeling the cold water down into the injection well that is 4.5 km in depth into the earth surface. After that, the water is heated in the geothermal zone by means of hot rocks below the earth surface. Next, the production well that is similar in depth but slightly wider than the injection well is used to collect the hot water for pumping it up into the condenser which is located above the earth surface. After that, the turbine harness the steam through narrow opening from the hot water in the condenser to rotate which in turn affects the generator to generate electricity. Finally the electricity is transmitted to the distribution antenna to be distributed across different areas around the country.
