TPO 20

In this set of materials, the reading passage discusses the let it burn policy that the forest fire would burn until it stops. The reading says because of huge damages of the Yellowstone parks after the burned in 1988, the human must replacing let it burn policy with a policy that turns down the fire as soon as possible. The speaker refutes this idea through several reasons which I will describe in this reporter.

First, the reading argues that the Yellowstone fire died and damaged many plants and trees, and after the fire, one-third of Yellowstone land became scorched, approximately. The lecturer, in contrast, rejects this by claiming that the fire created new opportunities for growing new plants. The new type of vegetations and plants colonized in the park after the fire. Because many small plants were living in the shadow of tall trees, and they could not grow. After, the tall trees died and burned, these small trees became a grow, and new type of trees grow. Furthermore, many seeds need very high heat for cracking and starting growing. So, new trees and vegetation became appears.

Second, unlike the passage which states that many animals especially large animals were fleeing the fires, and small animals stocked on fires, So the animals life of parks would not come back to the parks. However, The professor argues that after firing, the new opportunities create for small animals like rabbits for living, because they would able to live in the trunk of burning trees. As a result of living small animals in the parks, the good source of food would create for large animals and the came back to the parks.

Finally, although the reading passage says that "let it burn" may destroy the tourism economy, the speaker disagrees by mentioning that the tourism economy may suffer if forest fires happen every day. She said that for having a fire like the one that happened in 1988, a combination of different issues is required to happen at the same time. For instance, lack of rain for some month and raise in temperature. Therefore, as fires do not happen regularly in the forest, there will not be any economic problem
