You have been offered a job asking you to start next week You want the job very much but because of a previous commitment you want to delay the start for another two weeks Write to the Manager accepting the job but explaining your situation and asking for

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to inform you that I am very pleased to accept this job offer. However, I regret to say that am unable to start work as mentioned in the offer letter. Hence, I shall be able to commence work from 1st of the next month which is not later than fifteen days from today.

The main reason for having to extend my first day of work is because I need to serve two weeks of notice period in my current company. Upon confirmation, I will be serving notice period and will be relieved only after I have completely handed over my responsibilities with due diligence. As I wish, a smooth transition from one company to another and also would like to finish all the outstanding work prior to my release.

I seek your kind understanding with regards to my current situation. Although am delighted to be part of your prestigious company, I am still required to adhere to certain procedures and report to compliance department prior my exit. So, I wish you could kindly look into this matter and approve my request. I shall be greatly obliged and will not let you down on your expectations.

Looking forward for your swift response.

Yours faithfully,
Nur Amirah
