In this set of material the reading passage is about the genetic modification and usage of that in producing genetically modified trees and its benefits; on the other, the listening passage is a lecture by a professor about the reading passage which disagrees with the specific reasons that are mentioned in the reading passage about the benefits of genetically modified trees.

According to the reading passage, the writer believes that the new genetically made trees are the best solution for using them in some environments where are affected by insects or other problems for trees; the reading passage represented an example about using the mentioned type trees in Hawaii; moreover, the new trees were strong in front of pests and other kind of animal. On the other hand, the professor mentioned some bad effect of that replacement; for example, she said that all new trees were similar to each other, and, as a result of one problem, all of the new trees may become involved and finally they may die; however, only few number of natural trees may become affected by pests for example.

According to the second reason, writer believes that the genetically modified trees promise to bring a number of economic benefits for farmers by giving them more fruit or food; however, professor believes that the effects are not totally positive because the farmers may have to pay special amount of money to tree's producer company.

Finally, the article involved some evidence for benefits of genetically trees in the field of saving wild trees; to explain more, writer believes that kind of trees are very useful to plant in some area for their woods and other usable material instead of using wild trees' wood or material; in contrast, professor believes that planting genetically modified trees may have some bad effects on natural trees by using their resources; for example, their needed water.

Overall, the mentioned reasons in the lecture disagree with the reasons that are mentioned in the reading passage.
