You are going to another country to study. You would like to do a part-time job while you are studying, so you want to ask a friend who lives there for some help.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter,
give details of your study plans
explain why you want to get a part-time job
suggest how your friend could help you find a job
Dear Priya,
I am happy to inform you that I would be coming soon to Canada to complete my master's degree in avionics. This morning, I got the confirmation mail from my University stating that my application for the study abroad program is approved and I would be completing my last two semesters in Canada. I am writing this mail to enquire about some information before I make preparations for traveling.
Before diving into the questions, let me first explain to you my study plan. The university that has shortlisted my student profile has classes only from Monday to Friday. I have got all morning classes, therefore, my evening would be completely free. I can study during the weekends or late nights. Since they do not believe in giving assignments, I won't have to worry about it during the week. The only thing that the University demands are to provide weekly study reports which I can easily manage finishing on weekends.
Coming to the funding for my stay in Canada, my tuition and hostel fees would be covered by the scholarship that the State is going to provide. However, I would need to work part-time for food and other expenses. Since it is a student visa, I cannot work in corporate offices related to my field, I thought of working at restaurants or some shops as temporary staff.
Finally, the reason I am writing you the mail is to ask for your help in searching for some part-time jobs for myself. It will be a great help if you could make a list of possible jobs and share them with me so that I can follow up with them once I land in Canada. I am looking forward to meeting you soon. Take care of yourself and aunty.
Yours faithfully,
Madhulika
