The table compares the data of four criterias to assess the life quality of people living in five nations in 1982.
Overall, the countries having higher GNP per head supplied more individual daily calories from food. The more the US dollar the people earned, the longer the life expectancy and the lower the infant mortality rates the countries observed.
With regard to the three countries with lower individual GNP, people in Bangladesh and Bolivia earned the least income, at the level of 140 dollars and 570 dollars, respectively. These two countries also had the least daily calories supply per person and the shortest life expectancy among the five countries. Although Indonesia shared almost identical figures of GNP and life expectancy with Bolivia, its infant mortality rate was 87 per 1000 live births, which was 37 less than Bolivia.
Looking at the USA and Egypt, Egypt had the second most individual GNP of 690 dollars, which was almost half of the USA’s GNP, while Egyptian infant mortality was 97 per 1000 live birth, accounting for the third highest rate. There was 3652 daily calorie supply per head in the USA, which is much more adequate than in other countries. The USA not only had 74 years of life expectancy, but also conceived a significantly low infant mortality rate of 12 per 1000 at birth.
