The 2 line graphs denote the average monthly expenditure on children's sport by British parents in pounds and the participation of children in various sports namely Football, Athletics and Swimming in millions. Both the graphs depict the time period of 6 years from 2008 to 2014.
Overall, the expenditure in pounds has increased steadily from exactly 20 pounds on average in 2008 to just above 30 pounds in 2014. All three sports saw an increase in the number of children participating with some fluctuations such as Athletics spiking between 2010 and 2012.
Football had just above 7.5 million children in 2008 which declined slightly between the period 2008-2010. After that, the number increased in a noticeable fashion between 2010-2012 reaching just between 7.5 and 10 million. After 2012, there is a very slight increase. However, Swimming, on the other hand, saw a steady increase from being slightly less than 2.5 million in 2008 to midway between 2.5 and 5 in 2014.
Athletics had the least children in 2008 which was significantly lower than 2.5 and did not see much increase up until close to 2010. The 2 year period between 2010-2012 saw a sudden surge of children which took the number to just above 5 million. This was the peak period and then it declined to a little below 5.
