four days work
Both the reading and the passage are talking about the risks and benefits that the companies may have if they offer four days work per week. The passage claims that if a company would offer people to work only four days per week it would be more benefitial for the company. However, the lecture does not agree with this statement made in the passage. The professor says that four days work would affect the company in many ways, line economically.
To begin with, the reading part says that short week work would increase the company benefits because the empliyees woul be more rested, and as a result they can work more, and make less mistakes. On the other hand, the listening part says that four days work will force the company to speand more, a lot more. The lecturer says that the company will need to hire new people and it is very costly, because they need to pay for the training and for medical benefits. He said that, medical benefits costs the same, either a person works four or five days.
Furthermore, the author of the passage supports the idea that four days work will decrease the rate of unemployment. He said that the company will need to hire more people. Yet, the professor of the lecture does not agree with the idea given in the passage. He said that, four days work will not decrease the the uneployment. He claimes that the employers would ask the people to work overtime in order to achieve their goals. Also, he said the company would have higher expectations, because they will think the employees are rested and they can do more work. So, they will expect them to do same amount of work that they can do in five days, now they will be required to finish it in four days.
Finally, the passage says that the less day work will be better, because the people can spend more time with their families. This specific argument is challenged by the lecture. It says that, it can be high risk to reduce the quality of life, and also decrease the people's job availability. Moreover, the professor said that the employees thet work four days will be the first to loose their jobs in the economy downturn.
