The reading states that there are several reasons that scientists are attempting to create a new type of broccoli that can be grown on the East Coast despite the hotter summers there.
On the contrary, the lecturer finds all the reasons mentioned by the reading dubious and refutes them all by specific details.
First, the reading states that growing broccoli locally would reduce transportation costs. On the contrary, the professor brings up the idea that maybe transportation cost reduced, but is not necessary to new broccoli was cheaper. If circumstances for growing this kind of broccoli were so hard, farmers of the east have to pay more cost for growing them because is a need for farmers doing hard work in the east.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that the new product will be more desirable to the consumer. In contrast, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that people could be suspicious about the new product, there is trust in a regular company, and if the company change they could not be 100 percent sure that people buy the new product.
Finally, the author argues that broccoli growing so fast, and with this product, people get sooner to this vegetable vitamin. Conversely, the professor underlines that other vegetables with the easier condition for growing could arise in another east area. So it will be much better for to people use the different healthy product.
