torreya taxifolia
The purpose of this article is to address the way to preserve the tree 'torreya taxifolia' from extinction. More specifically, the author gives three ways to preserve it. In the listening part, the professor disagrees with the methods. She believes these are not the best ways to preserve the trees from extinction and refutes each of the points stated in the reading.
The author begins the reading by stating that the first method is to reestablsih. The lecturer, on the other hand, is not convinced. According to her, the environment and climatic condition of Florida is not suitable for the tree in recent days. She continues by saying that due to the global warning the climatic condition has become unfavorable for the torreya taxifolia trees in recent days.
In addition, the author says that Torreya can be saved by relocating it into next places. Again, the lecture believes that author's suggestion is flawed.The speaker believes that the Torreya has high possibility to flourish it is relocated and keep other species of plant into danger.
Finally, the author suggests to preserve the plant to save it from extinction. In the listening part, the lecturer doubts that the method will work. She says that the plant should have to face different kinds of diseases. For that, diverse group of Torreya Plant should be kept in the lab. But it impossible to build such a large lab.
To summarize, both the writer and lecture have contrary views on preservation of the Torreya plant. It is clear that they will have trouble finding common ground on this issue.
