Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
In the past, young people depended too much on their parents to make decisions for them; today young people are better able to make decisions about their own lives.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Without a shadow of a doubt, parents can help their children to make them have better decisions in their challenging dilemmas. While the role of parents was much more critcial in many dacades ago, nowadays, it is somehow different. In my opinion, youngsters are less likely eager and interested in taking advice or help from their fathers and mothers. I believe in this way for many reasons that I will elaborate on in the following paragraphs.

The first and foremost reason is the fact that all of the children now go to school and get educated. This was not an ordinary thing in old times. To put it in other words, although, only a few kids were able to attend educative classes in the past, now, it is an indisputable reality that all of the kids easily have access to schools. Going to schools and attending classes, they have more knowledge and wisdom to decide on their own while facing struggling situations. As a result, they are barely depended to the assistance of their parents. I can assert that education can impactfully enable young people to see the benefits and drawbacks of their options as well as to predic their possible subsequent contingencies.

Secondly, in this information century, there are huge number of online courses and teaching materials that can be reached by everyone. On one hand, children and young adults can watch videos about their issues at anytime that they need. On the other hand, they can also discuss their problems with many online tutors and friends who are readily passionate to give help. Take my own compelling example. Last year, I was thinking about choosing one job among many occupations as my secondary job. To find the best way of evaluating my options, I share my issue on an online networking platform. This led me to have some helpful and useful discussions with my friends on those applications. Since I got noticed about smany crucial elements in choosing a part-time job, I was able to filter my options to select the best one. Therefore, my example demostrated that I was not in the need of my parents' help.

Furthermore, the development of the notions like self-confidence and the spread of those kind of things have caused young children to basically try to be more independent from their families.

Taking the reasons and examples above, I agree that young people are more inclined to do or behave in a way they desire on themselves. They like to not be dependent to their parents. With this respect, they even prefer to do the wrong thing but the thing that is their own decision, not their parents.
