The chart below illustrates how much leisure time men and women of different employment status enjoy.
Overall, it is evident that the amount of time spent on leisure pursuits per week is the largest among the unemployed and retired, whereas those who work full time tend to have the least free time. In addition, it is noticeable that the time spent on recreational activites is only witnessed among women who are part-time workers or act as housewives in the families.
Men who are unemployed and retired said that they spent around 85 hours a week on their hobbies, while the figures for their female counterparts were slightly lower, at about 79 hours. A similarity can be seen in those working full time, with men reporting 44 hours and women spending 38 hours on leisure activities.
50 hours per week is spent on free time activities among housewives, who do not go to work but stay at home caring for the family and handling household chores. In comparison to this, women taking part-time jobs generally have less leisure time, with only 40 hours a week.
