The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Given is the line graph depicting the figure of six distinct types of energy used by Americans during a period of 50 years, commencing from 1980.
It is conspicuous that petrol and oil is by far the most popular energy consumed by people in the US throughout the given time. Additionally, the usage of solar/wind, nuclea, natural gas, coal and petrol and oil energy experience an upward trend and the reverse is true for hydropower.
Starting at 35 quadrillion units, the amount of petrol and oil used by Americans is forecasted to leap drastically and reach a peak at nearly 48 quadrillion units at the end of the period. In addition, the consumption of coal and natural gas were 16 quadrillion units and 20 quadrillion units respectively in 1980. Nevertheless, in 2015, the usage of coal surpassed natural gas and became the second most common energy in the US.
Standing at about 4 quadrillion units at the first year, the consumption of nuclear and solar/wind power witnessed a gradual climb and are predicted to rise at 6 quadrillion units and 5 quadrillion units respectively; whereas, hydropower is likely to become less popular option which remains its consumption over the time.
