The chart depicts data about how many cars were stolen for a thousand means of transport in four countries during the 10 years since 1990.
Overall, the number of cars stolen in Canada and Great Britain decreased, while those in Sweden increased, except for France, which remained stable over the period given. In addition, the UK had the highest number of thefts in the whole period.
It is clearly visible from the line chart that Great Britain’s figure varied consistently during the period, starting at 18 car-theft cases per thousand means of transport in the UK, fluctuating in the first six years between 17 and 20, before falling to 16 in the last year. According to Canadian data, it declined from 8 to 5 between 1990 and 1993, then steadily rose to 7 in 1999.
In contrast, in the first five years, the figure for Sweden fluctuated around 7. In the following year, it had a slight growth of 12 and remained stable at this number for the next three years. In the final year, it rose significantly to 14. Similarly, the figure for France was erratic between 6 and 7 the whole time. However, it returned to the initial number in the last year, at 6.
