The table below shows changes in the numbers of residents cycling to work in different areas of the UK between 2001 and 2011.

The given table illustrates how the numbers of working cyclists changed in different places in the UK after 10 years, 2001 and 2011.

Overall, in 2001 and 2011, the numbers of cyclists in Inner London was the highest while this figure in Gateshead was the lowest. However, the percentage change of working cyclists in Inner London was biggest compared to the other areas, and the smallest one was Outer London.

Look at more details we can see that, in 2001, residents cycling to work in Inner London made up the highest number 43,494, after 10 years, in 2011, this figure increased to 106,219. Followed by Outer London, there was a significant increase in the number of working cyclists, from 33,836 to 49,070, rose by 15,234. By contrast, Gateshead had the smallest numbers of residents cycling to work in both 2001 and 2011, at 816 and 1,314 respectively.

It is clear that the percentage change of Inner London took up the highest, at 144%. Additionally, the percentage changing in Brighton and Hover was the second which accounted for 109%. On the contrary, the proportion change of working cyclists in Outer London was the lowest, only 45% compared to the other areas
