The visuals elucidate the transformation regarding the overall layout of an area called Felixstone in the UK, including the transportation infrastructure, accommodation system and facilities network which were partially configured from 1967 to 2011.
Overall, the whole area was modified in complexity with some new additional features being added, including the clearance of farmland, which is in favor of residents and tourists. Additionally, the whole area was modernized to be more space-effective and commercialized.
Previously in 1967, there was farmland occupying to the east of the area; however, this agricultural site was under clearance to make way for the construction of a hotel and two other sports facilities, including a swimming pool and two tennis courts. Moreover, the shops located to the northern sector of the area were contracted and thereafter converted into apartments, satisfying the need for urbanization. In the southeast side of Felixstone, there used to be a fish market, however, this site was demolished to make way for the erection of a private beach.
The development of the region saw a construction of wind turbines occurring at the southwest corner, facilitating the generation of alternative resources. Furthermore, there was a relocation of both the Cafe and Hotel to make way for a nearby car park. Complete transformation was witnessed in the seafront of Felixstone where a large marina and pier were knocked down and replaced by a public beach. The remaining infrastructure including the Golf course, dunes and a patch of vegetation remained unchanged over the examined period.
