There is a discussion concerning the issue of the source of the strange sound detected by submarine, which the lecture of the listening puts forward some severe paradoxes against the claims expressed in the reading passage by invoking some cogent proof. She states that these explanations are scant of validity.
To begin with, it is argued in the passage that the sound is produced by the whale when they want to appeal to the mate and the sounds are similar to that alienated voice. Besides, their habitation is near the submarine's detection area. Nonetheless, the professor distinctly identifies the flaws views in the passage. Subsequently, she potently disproves the opinion by mentioning that the whales live in the area which is near the surface instead of the deep water where the submarine located in, which means that submarine can not detect whales' sounds.
In addition, strikingly a thorough counterargument made by lecturer is presented against the claim in the text in which the author declares that the Giant squid may emit that sound because their soft body and no skeleton are hard to detected by sonar, which can explain why the object is undetectable. Rather, she maintain that the sound have disappeared for two decades, but the Giant squid always live in that place, which means that stopping hearing the sound is impossible.
Last but not least, the passage takes the view that other country's special submarine whose military digital devices, which do not register on the sonar with the aim of not being detect by sonar, make that sounds; on the contrary, the speaker repudiates the notion, since the sound demonstrated that the object alter its direction very fast. However, the submarine can not turn the orientation rapidly. Besides, the sound do not contain the engines' noise, which the submarine must emit due to the limit of the technology.
