The graph shows the monthly expenditure on three types of restaurant food in Australia. The plot shows the annual number of restaurant visits for the same types of food between 1965 and 2015.
The bar chart illustrates the monthly expense spent by different income groups on three kinds of restaurant food, namely Italian, Indian, and Chinese, in Australia. The plot shows the number of visits per person per year for those three types of food in Australia.
As the income increases, people spend more expenditures on Italian and Chinese food, rising from $8 to $14 to $20 and $18 to $25 to $42 respectively. However, compared with the low income and the high income group ($18 and $17 respectively), the medium income group spends the highest amount on Indian food at $25 per month.
In terms of the annual visits, the Indian food was still the least popular over the period, though the number of visits climbed from o to over 10. The trend of annual visits for the Chinese food and the Indian food are more complicated. Starting at a relatively higher point (around 4 visits), the figure for Chinese food remained unchanged in the first decade and then increased at a rapid rate to around 14 by 1995 and more than 20 in 2010. The number of annual visits for the Italian food rose rapidly at the beginning, ranging from about 3 in 1970 to approximately 14 in 1995, and then increased progressively by smaller amounts, reaching 15 by 2010.
