The tables below provide information about the consumption and production of potatoes in five parts of the world in 2006.
The tables provide information about potatoes consumption and production in five different continents in the world in 2006 in kg per person. Overall, it is clear that Europe was potato’s biggest consumer, while the lowest consumption was in Africa. Otherwise, Asia was the highest producer of potatoes.
Out of the five parts of the world, each person’s consumption of potatoes was noticeably higher in Europe at 96.1 kg, while Europe only produced 126.3 kg per person. In contrast, Asian people per person just consume 25.8 kg but had the biggest producer of potatoes at 131.2 kg per person.
On the other hand, South and Central America and North America had the same problem, they could produce as much as 15.6 kg and 24.7 kg of potatoes respectively, however, each person in those continents needed 23.6 kg and 57.9 kg for consuming potatoes. The region consuming the least potatoes was Africa with 14.1 kg. Nevertheless, African people could produce 16.4 kg of potatoes.
