Dear Amber,
I hope you and your family doing well. I am glad that you receive a study offer form my university and ask my suggestion to find a place to live. This letter shares my experience in University of Hong Kong, especially with accommodation.
As you might already know I rented a remote house for the two years I was in college. I need to walk about 20 minutes for my classes. However, there are many necessary shops nearby, which is very convenience. Extra privacy, quiet and much less expensive that other house near the university, except for remote house. This addresses my study needs and accommodation budget.
I suggest you join a Facebook group that is so popular with university alumni. The group not only shares living experiences, but also offers their apartments for rent sometimes. On top of that, you don’t have to pay an agency fee when you rent.
Finally, I don’t recommend you rent the official accommodation which provided by the university, due to the roommate is random selected. Their habits may not suit you and may affect your studies.
I am looking forward to seeing you soon.
Warm wishes,
Suki
