The line chart shows the proportion of foreign visitor arrivals in different areas of the world between 1990 and 2005.
It is clear that there was an increasing number of international tourist arrivals in those areas mentioned.
From the beginning year, North America became the most visited place, visited by 70 million visitors, and rose gradually to around 90 million for the next 10 years. In the following year, the figure remained stable to just slightly under 90 million.
In 1990, the number of international tourists visiting Central and Eastern Europe was over half that of North America. The former soared from 30 million to above 80 million over 15 years.
Similarly, South East Asia climbed gradually in visits from approximately 20 million to under 50 million in the final years. Both sub-Saharan African and South America were visited by less than 10 million foreign visitors at the start of the period, seeing a minimal increase by around 5 million, almost 20 million and 15 million respectively
