The line graph gives information about the percentage of elderly people aged 65 and over in 3 different countries and how this rate changed over 80 years from 1940 to 2040.
What stands out from the graph is that there are 4 similar trends, which progress gradually. It’s also noticeable that the figure of citizens aged 65 and more than in Japan is the lowest proportion during most of the period, but the data shows the highest percentage in the last year.
Looking at the graph for more details, it can be seen that the figure for population in Japan started at only 5% in 1940. whereas the percentage of citizens in sweden and usa were higher than the proportion of japan, which were 7% and 9% respectively. Over the next 60 years, the figures for elderly people in Sweden and usa improved steadily and stopped at about 15% in 2000. meanwhile, the population in Japan reduced slightly before the figures went up gradually to about 5% like the first time in 2000.
According to the current prediction, the percentage of the population in USA remained statically from 2000 to 2020, but then it will be climbed up continuously to 23% in 2040. Similarly, the proportion of elderly people in Japan will be progressed significantly to almost 20% at the same time. Finally, the figures of citizens in Sweden will be fluctuated between 2000 and 2020, but then it will be continued to increase to about 25% at the last year of the chart.
