The given line chart below illustrates that how many people in America and Japan were jobless from March 1993 to March 1999.
Overall, it is clear that initially, the unemployment rate in US was highest, while the reverse was true for japan. However, these two countries followed an opposite trend and equalized each other at the end of the period.
According to the graph, in March 1993, almost 7% of the workforce in US had no occupation, whereas japan stood at 2.5%. After this, their ratio in both countries fluctuated and moved steadily in the opposite direction. In the next year, the figure for America dropped to 6.5% and then to 6% until 1995, while the japan encountered a growth in their unemployed people which escalated to just over 3.5% in the same two years. Furthermore, the US has experienced a further 1% decline in an unoccupied professionals in 1997, becoming 5% which then plateaued until 1999. However, after a substantial increase in unemployment in japan, its percentage climbed significantly by reaching to the same level as US in 1998 at 5%. And then remain unchanged in the following year, despite up and downs.
