The pie chart and the table indicate the employment distribution of nursing graduates in the UK in the year 2009.
Overall, it can be seen that the majority of nurses working in the health sector were mainly employed in hospitals. Notably, further study and other sectors attracted the lowest number of nursing graduates.
Looking at the chart for greater details, in 2009, about 84% of people finishing nursing courses worked in the health sector, compared to only 8% of those working and studying. The unemployed nurses after completing their course accounted for about 4%, while those studying further and other sectors accounted for half, only 2% each.
In terms of the health sector, the majority of nurses are employed in the hospital, making up about 73%, in comparison with 12.4% of those employed as midwives. There were 10.3% of nursing graduates working as community nurses, whereas those working as mental nurses occupied the lowest figure with only 0.4%. The percentage of people enrolled in parametric and other fields was about 1.3% and 2.7% respectively.
