: The chart and table below give information about what nursing graduates did after finishing their courses in the UK in 2009.
Given are the two figures delineating the after-graduating path of students who majored in nursing in the UK in the 2009s.
Perceptibly, the vast majority of university leavers whose main course was nursing were employed in the health sector. In this category, people working in hospitals accounted for the biggest incidence.
As can be seen from the graph, while the percentage of nursing graduates represented over eight out of ten, that of those who decided to work and study simultaneously was just 8%. Less than twice of this number, strikingly, was registered in the unemployment sector, which was followed by 2% of the ones who attended upper-training courses and focused on other professions.
As for the nurses’ posts classified in the health sector, the percentage of nursing graduates working in hospitals made up a staggering 72.9% , while that of midwives and community nursing workers comprised 12.4% and 10.3% respectively. Furthermore, the mental nurse and paramedic embodied only small proportions, with the figures being 0.4% for the former and 1.3% for the latter.
