Eating sweet foods produces acid in the mouth, which can cause tooth decay. (High acid levels are measured by low pH values)
Describe the information below and discuss the implications for dental health
Tooth decay doing harm to teeth can be caused by acid in the mouth which is manufactured by consuming foods being sweet.
Looking from an over perspective, should pH level be remained under 5.5, teeth will be affected by tooth decay.
Cane sugar, fruit sugar and honey being common components in sorts of foods all hit the lowest point after the first five-minute interval from the moment of eating being at 7 pH, value at 3.5, approximately 4.25, about 4.75 respectively that it represents the danger in descending order of the sugars. After that, pH values of all species have a tendency to increase sharply and reach the highest point, at 7pH, after the least 15 minutes for honey ,the most 35 minutes for cane sugar and the last but not least, 30 minutes for fruit sugar. Acidity value caused by honey, however, remained stable at the lowest level during the 5-minute period before having a significant growth, its value returns at 7pH being quicker than others.
