The table illustrates the difference of scientists’ average salaries for several jobs at an organization.
Overall, all positions see a huge difference in the number of males and females. Lab chief MD is the highest paid job among other positions whilst staff fellow PhD is the least paid. Moreover, men’s incomes surpass that of women in every positions expect for lab chief MD.
As regards lab chief MD, female doctors earn 105,696 dollars, surpassing the incomes of male doctors by 10,511 dollars. However, there are only 7 females work in this position, nearly twelve times less than that of males. Total MD, lab chief PhD, section chief MD and investigator MD are the positions that both genders get paid more than $80000 to nearly $90000. Moreover, the gaps between males and females’ average incomes of four occupations range from the lowest of $343 to $3,945, respectively. The number of women working in these positions range from 2 to 71, much less than that of men.
Total PhD, section chief Phd, investigator PhD and staff fellow PhD are the positions that pay two genders less than 80000 dollars, especially staff fellow PhD, which is the lowest paid job, with $34,642 and $31,848 respectively. While women working as lab chief MD are paid $10000 more than men, the opposite pattern can be seen in total PhD, where men are paid $9,121 more than that of females.
