The chart illustrates the amount of cash families used in a week at a specific country in the year 1968 and after half of a century.
In 1968, most of weekly income was spent for buying food at 35% of total figure while fuel and power just accounted for more than 5% which was in the last position. Besides that, the money for housing and clothing items was the same proportion at 10% per week. The other purposes such as household, personal goods, transport and leisure consumed about less than 10% of total cost that family paid in seven days.
After 50 years, leisure and housing became the main reason for spending which increased significantly to 22% and 19%, respectively. In contrast, the number for food was decreased sharply to almost halve. The similar trends were applied for clothes and personal goods while transport fee was nearly doubled in this year. In addition, fuel and power cost less per week at about 4% of the sum and the proportion of household goods was exact in 1968.
Overall, in the range of 50 years, there are several changes in the amount of weekly income spent by families.
