The table below shows the consumer durables (telephone, refrigerator, etc.) owned in Britain from 1972 to 1983. Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.
The table compares the percentages of 8 different kind of typical household equipment which was owned by the British in 11-year period from 1972 to 1983. Totally, the most popular consumer durable over years was television.
It can be clearly seen from the table that the amount of television possession achieved the highest percentage, for about 93% in the first year, continued increasing gradually to 96 and peaked at 98% in 1983. Next came, vacuum cleaner and refrigerator were the most popular equipment after TV which was owned by 87 and 73% British in 1972 and plateaued at 95% for the last year.
As for central heating and telephone, about 40% households had them in 1972 and went up quickly to 64 and 77% respectively. Regarding to dishwasher, this machine was less popular than the others, stood at only 3% in 1972 and increased minimally to 5% in the last year. Interestingly, although video was introduced a later time in 1983, it plateaued at 18%.
Overall, the ownership of all machines increased from 1972 to 1983.
