Education system in US and its weaknesses
In the United States, children start school at the age of 6 with attending primary school which takes 5 or 6 years to finish. Next level of education is intermediate school. It is also called junior high school and it takes 3 or 4 years to finish. After intermediate school there is high school which is the last level which at the end of it, children receive a high school diploma. There is also a probability that some one who hasn't gain the minimum acceptable score in one course has to repeat the whole year again.
There are some weaknesses in this educational system. Individual differences between students hasn't been taken into account. For example consider two students at the same age who are in the same class, but one of them is so mature both physically and socially and the other is less mature and this system considers both the same.
Second, repeating a year just because of not being successful in one course would lead to boredom. Consequently it would drop efficiency of education because the student has to attend all courses even the ones which he or she has passed them just because of one course.
Finally, we should remember that there are differences in speed of learning and understanding between different people. Some one who learn a specific material faster than the others would find the class so boring and not so useful while the other student who is in the same class and is a bit slower than average level of understanding speed would find himself not comfortable in class because he has to catch up himself and in his point of view this materials are so much to be taught in just one semester.
In conclusion, it seems that the present educational system has some weak points such as not consideration the differences between maturity level of pupils, the system of grading which causes to boredom for someone who has failed in one course and also not considering the level of learning speed between pupils.
