The reading states the importance and benefits of a team- work for many organizations and provides some reasons to support the idea. But the professor refutes each of the author’s point by giving an example of one company which had checked the
work of team projects after six months.
First, the lecture says that in a team project so many members got a free ride and they did not contributed much for the work, then also they got recognition when the team got success. And about the members who worked sincerely, their names were not declared for the success of projects. Hence, they felt bad and this is totally opposite what was explained by the author in the reading passage. Reading claims that taking part in a team project is very rewarding for the members of the team and the individual team member can have a chance to shine.
Second, the lecture posits that some projects didn’t move very quickly as it took so long to reach to the conclusions after several meetings. Sometimes, some individuals took decisions, but the ideas were dropped without putting much insight by the other members of a team. In other situation, some highly creative and risky decisions were taken, in spite of being warned by other members that project is going in a wrong direction and at the end, the project had failed and all the members were equally blamed. This is totally opposite explained by the reading passage. Reading states that the team members have more knowledge, skills, and resources, so the team could finish the project quickly.
