TPO 48 - Integrated writing
According to the reading, frogs are declining in number and maybe they extinct in future, and this can causes severe issues for ecosystem. The article proposes few ways to overcome this problem. However, the professor consideres all of the solutions presented in the reading unpractical and refutes all of them.
First, the passage writes that pesticides harm frogs by attacking frog's nervous system and causes severe breathing problem for them. Farmers that use pesticides should be prohibited to use them because they are the main source of creating pesticides. In contarary to this, the lecturer points that reducing pesticides would not be fair and economical to farmers. This method increases the amount of farm waste and decrease the cultivation yield while in other areas that the law is not conducted other farmers can benefit from it because the first group farmers won't be able to compete with them anymore.
Second, the writing writes that fungus kill frogs by thickening their skin while frogs use their skin to absorb water and avoid dehydration. the passage suggests that scientists should apply antifungal medication to frogs to stop them from dying. In contrast to this, the lecturer says that reasearchers have to treat each frog individually and this can be very expensive. besides that, the treatment won't apply to their offsprings and scientists have to do the same process for their next generation.
Third, the article indicates that people should be banned to use water because they are threatening frogs by excessive use of water of frogs' habitats. However, the speaker proposes that this method won't fix the problem. The real threat is global warming not humans activities and this change won't solve global warming , nor frog population reduction.
