The bar chart illustrates the amount of spare time that was spent for leisure activities per week by people, divided by gender, from various employment sectors between 1998 and 1999 period.
Interestingly, total time spent for relaxation by both genders in unemployed and retired sections were the highest among the other sections. It occupied around 85 and 75 hours by men and women respectively. Whereas, only around half of this figure engaged with spare time in employment (full time) section with well over 45 hours by men and just under 40 hours by women.
It is noticed that in the group of part-time employed and housewives, the amount of leisure time for the men was not mentioned, while the women spend about 40 hours and approximately 50 hours respectively.
In conclusion, women enjoyed less leisure time than men as they have more involvement in household works, childrearing etc. Furthermore, people without jobs had almost double leisure times than the employed population.
