The reading and the lecture have opposed opinions about the possibility of establishing a permanent stations on Venus. The lecture casts doubts on all the reasons mentioned in the reading.
First, the reading states that the pressure on the surface of Venus is so powerful, ten time like earth, that any spacecraft would crushed immediately when landing on the surface. The lecturer refutes this claim by saying that a floating station would enable us to avoid this problem. The station will float on high latitude that the pressure at this height will be nearly equal to the pressure on Earth.
Second, the reading states that Venus does not contain water reservoirs which is necessary to any life. The lecturer rebuts this claim. He suggests that the chemical that are found on the surface and the atmosphere of Venus could be used to produce water through some chemical operations.
Finally, the reading states that the sunlight is very weak on Venus, and hardly there will be enough light that needed for the availability of life. The lecturer argues against this claim. He explains that at high latitude the sunlight is stronger than on the surface of the planet. It is possible to use to avoid the thickness of the atmosphere that weaken the light. They could use some cells to store the light which penetrates the atmosphere and the light reflected from the clouds.
