The article states that vessels, that have been discovered in Iraq, were unlikely to use as elctric batteries , and povides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that the vessels could have been used as a electric source, and she refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading claims that if this vessels were truly used as batteries, we should have been found at the excavated location evidences of electric conductors, such as metal wires. Conversely, the profssor explains that the absence of wires have happened because people who were responsible for excavation are locals and not experts in archaeology field. Therefore, they could have been found evidences of electric conductors, but they did not recognized them, ore migh have been thrown away.
Second, the article avers that since the copper cylinders look exactly to what discovered in the Seleucia city, these cylinders were used for holding scrolls of sacred texts. The professor, on the other hand, refutes this point by saying the copper cylinders were true are look alike than in Seleeucia location, but this does not prove anything. She explains that people could had discovered another use for these cylinders later. With the combination of Iron and some liquid, you would get a battery. The professor concludes that cooper was first origniated for a specific purose, after that it could adopted for something else like producing electricity.
Third, the reading avers that even if ancient people could generated electricty, they had no device to relied on electricity. The professor opposes this point by saying the use of electricty could be for producing mild shock. Since people could have been able to generate an invisible power, such as electricity, they could convince others to use of batteries.
Moreover, the professor mentions that the vessels that generated electricity could have been used for healing purposes as muscle stimulus. Also, the vessels could be used for relief aches, or pain.
