The line chart illustrates the changes in the proportion of individual in cities among four selected countries: the USA, Korea, China and India during a 60-year period.
It is clear that the USA always has the largest percentage of city population throughout the period shown. While the figure for Korea increases rapidly, the percentage of urban individual of China and India increase gradually.
In 1970, the largest proportion of American individual in cities was 70%, while the figure for Korea and China were about 40% and 20% respectively. And, the percentage of India was same as China. In the year 1990, the urban population of the USA rose to nearly 82%, and the number of Korea reached 70%. However, there was a slight increase of approximately 10% in India. In addition, the proportion in China remained stable during the period of 20 years.
By 2030, the percentage of population in cities of the USA and Korea are expected to peak at almost 90%. As same as the trend saw in the USA and Korea, the proportion in China is predicted to grow to nearly 65%. The number of India will possibly to rise slowly and is predicted to about 38%.
