The line graph compares the proportion of tourists Who visited four different types of Brighton attractions in England over a period of 30 years from 1980 to 2010.
It is clear that the percentage of visitors to the Pavilion and the Pier both increased, while there were noticeable decreases in the figures for the Art Gallery and the Festival over the period shown.
In 1980, the proportion of tourists visiting the Festival was highest, at around 30%, whereas the figure for the Pier was remarkably lower, at only 10%. Meanwhile, about 24% visitors who went to the Pavilion compared to roughly 22% to the Pier. In 1985, the percentage of visitors to the Art Gallery went up dramatically to a peak of approximately 38%. Likewise, the figure for the Pavilion and the Pier were slight increases, at 28% and 15% respectively. By contrast, the proportion of tourists who visited the Festival slightly went down.
Between 1985 and 1995, the percentage of visitors to the Pavilion rose significantly to approximately 50% and became the highest figure in the line graph. After 1995, although this figure decreased to about 30% in 2010, it was above the starting figure of the period. The proportion of tourists to the Art Gallery declined considerably to below 10% in 2010. At the same time, the figure for the Pier saw a small rise to just over 20%. Tourists who visited the Festival experienced a slight fall to roughly 28% in 2000 and remained at this level for the rest of the period.
