The process of making chocolate begins with cocoa grinding. This step produce cocoa liquor and some waste products. The liquor is pressed become either cocoa powder which is sold to food factory, or cocoa butter. Industrial chocolate is made from cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, and add sugar etc. The composition is refined to make chocolate bar.
The pie chart shows that the price of chocolate bar is divided up into five recipient sections. The chart indicates that the farmer who plants the cocoa receives only 4% of the retail price. The supermarket, on the other hand, gets 34%. A rather small 10% goes to the chocolate company while 15% is taken by the government in the form of taxes. The cost of ingredients and production, make up the largest proportion, 37% of the price of a chocolate bar.
