Deaths in Someland 1990 and medical research funding in Someland
The presented bar chart illustrates the number of people died of AIDS, leprosy, tropical diseases, diarrhoea, malaria and TB in Someland 1990. Meanwhile, the other shows the amount of money spent on medical research in Someland at the same time.
It can be seen clearly that the highest funding was paid out for AIDS while the number of deaths of TB was the most.
In Someland 1990, the people died of TB reached over 1.5 millions, which approximately fourth as high as that of diarrhoea and seventh as high as deaths for leprosy. In addition, the number of victims who could not recover from malaria, tropical diseases and AIDS were around 0.5 millions.
Althought most of the people died of TB, the research’s expenditure for TB were lowest, just 25 millions in 1990; whereas that of for AIDS received over 150 millions. Research funding in leprosy and tropical diseases stayed at the second with approximately 100 millions. In comparison with the budget used to medical research in malaria, at 50 millions, the budget of medical research in diarrhoea were more than 10 millions.
