The reading and the lecture both are discussing about the little ice age which has happened for long period. The author of the reading believes that some reasons could lead to this event. The lecturer casts doubt on the claims made in the article. He states that none of these argument are correct and all of them are out-of-date.
First of all, the passage claims that disruptive gulf caused the cooling. The professor contradicts this statement by saying that cooling of temperature in the Europe and north United state could have been caused by disruptive ocean. He states that the other regions have not been affected. So, this explanation cannot be correct.
Moreover, the author of the article asserts that little ice age could have been caused by volcanic eruption. It send a lot of dust into the sky. The professors rejects this by explaining that if they send a great deal of dust into atmosphere, they would have created visual effects. For example, with the presence of dust. the sunlight and snow change their color. So, volcanic eruption could not produce enough dust to change the color.
Thirdly, the passage proposes that forest trees started growing and it absorbs a lot of carbon dioxide. The professor opposes this idea by saying that the trees of forests was cut down in order to provide food for crops. So it cannot affect the climate.
