Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The graph below illustrates the trends of both consumption and production of energy in the US between the years 1950 and 2000. At the same time it foretells the trends for 2025.
According to the graph, the consumption of the energy which was 25 units in 1950 has risen gradually and finally reached just under 100 units in 2000. Additionally, it is predicted that rise will continue during next 25 years without any hesitation. When it comes to the production of energy, as the graph indicated, the amount of consumption was just above 25 units in 1950, however it has increased remarkably during 25 years and reached approximately 60 units in 1975. After this significant growth the trend hesitated between 50 and 60 units until 2000. To compare with the trends of consumption of energy, it is clearly seen the production of the energy will not increase markedly before 2025.
To sum up, the graph shows that the production of energy could not keep up with the consumption of energy and it will not reach the number of consumption during several decades in the US. The import rates will continue to rise.
