There has been some debates among whether the pterosaures are able to glide or to power flight. The lecture says that the pretasours were have the ability to power flight. On the other hand the reading refutes saying that there are several arguments against their power flight.
The first point of dispute is that whether the pterasous metabolism supply them with the sufficient amount of energy for their power flight. The lecture says that some fossils found indicated that the pterasoures had furs and hair like warm blooded animals, which helped them to fast their rate of metabolism and provided them with the energy needed for their power flight. However the reading contends this point by stating that they are considered to be cold blooded animals, thus they have low metabolism and they were not able for power flight.
Another controversial issue is the large size of the petratures. The lecture claims that the anatomical features of the petraturea indicated that they had shallow bones. Their weight were too light so they were able for flapping. The reading contradicts this point by stating that they were too heavy to stay a loft for any length of time.
The final point of dispute is the ptreatures ability to take off from the ground. The lectures asserts that they were different from the other birds. They used their four limbs to take off from the ground. In contrast, the reading argues that they should had large big muscles to hold them of the ground because they were like birds only use two limbs to take off the ground.
