Both the reading passage and the lecture discuss Agnostids. The writer proposes three statements about what agnostids eat and where they live. However, the lecture disagrees with the statements by pointing out sufficient weakness in them.
Firstly, the reading passage claims that agnostids were free-swimming predators. On the other hand, the lecturer refutes this statement by providing the evidence that agnostids had small tiny eyes which are not good for them to see a prey. Predators count on clear vision ability to hunt. The lack of vision ability makes agnostids a poor predator.
Second, the writer says that agnostids lived on the seafloor. Despite the examples of some arthropods living this way, the lecturer argues that agnostids' behaved in a very different way than a seafloor dweller. A seafloor dweller usually swims at a very low speed and stays in a certain place. While agnostids are found in many places which shows that agnostids were able to move in a fast speed within a large area.
Last but not the least, the reading passage suggests that agnostids were parasites. Nevertheless, the lecturer argues that there had to be some vast animals for agnostids to live on or they would just kill the animals. However, there are not a vast amount of fossils found.
